CALVMX Competition Trials Event & Demonstration
*We will have the following classes to start with:
Beginner (any bike with Trials tires is ok), if you win the Beginner Class, you are
automatically moved to the Novice or appropriate Kids class for future events.
Kids 0 to 10 (any bike with Trials tires is ok),
Kids 10 to 15 (any bike with Trials tires is ok), Kids may be advanced to a higher class
based on demonstrated skill levels.
* The following Bike Classes will be run in Novice, Intermediate and Expert:
I will accept current AHRMA or ITSA classifications, but I reserve the right to move
riders up or down for our club. I don't care what level folks ride with other
organizations, we don't want "Sandbaggers" and we don't want folks riding over their
heads and being unsafe. I am not familiar with ATA or other Modern classes, but I will
grade them according to their capabilities on our sections. An ATA Novice equivalent,
on a Modern Bike may well be an Expert in our club based on skill level. Our sections
will be set for the Vintage bikes and the Modern Riders may find them too easy. Since
this is a Vintage club we will cater to the Vintage bikes.
*The bike classes are:
Premier :(pre-68 and like design)
Classic : (68 to 72 and stock/mostly stock Trail bikes)
Modern Classics : purpose built (Factory) Trials bikes from 72 to 79 and Special built
earlier bikes with advanced Technology.
Pre-Modern : (all of the bikes from 80 to the Modern era, that currently have no
classes;TY-350s, SWMs, Long Travel or Disc Brake bikes and Modified Modern Classics
with an obvious advantage)
Modern : (everything else).
I will be asking for volunteer checkers, but it may be "Peer" checking, with everyone
riding with their "Classmates." Trophies will not be given at the event, but at the next
event, to give us time to process everything.
Sign-ups will start at 9:30 with a riders meeting at 10:30 and we will finalize the start
and finish times at the riders meeting.
We will use "Vintage rules, which means "NO" stopping or hopping. Stopping or
Hopping will be a 5. Forward motion of at least 1 wheel must be maintained. Floater
turns and stoppy turns are allowed as long as the rear wheel continues to turn.
Completion of 1 loop is mandatory, otherwise it is a DNF. 5 points deducted for any
push/push out section. 10 points for all "Non-attempted" It is legal to push the bike
around the course for the "Push in/Push out 5's. This allows competitors to finish even if
their bike breaks and they can not borrow a ride.
